In this world, pressure is inevitable, but it is God’s will that we have peace in him. Why? Because, he already overcame. He endured the pressures, griefs, fears, and troubles of the human experience.
Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
John 16:33 KJV These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
He bore my griefs [sicknesses], and he carried my sorrows [mental anguish and grief]. “Does God understand?” I sometimes ask. The answer is “Yes, much in every way.” So, why am I holding onto something that he already carried and died for?
Isaiah 53:4-5 KJV Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. (5) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
He was indeed tempted in every way like me, yet without sin. This is not just referring to temptations like lust. He was tempted with mental turmoil, weariness, experiences of rejection, etc.—just like me. He can relate to every one of my human experiences. He never knew what it was like to commit sin, but on the cross, he became sin itself. He became the very subject of the wrath of God. As a man, he became the very detestable object of his own purity and perfection. He did that all for me. Father, let me become convinced and persuaded of your Word and exceeding precious promises.
Hebrews 4:14-15 KJV Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. (15) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
A note from the author…
“Diary of a Person Being Healed from Anxiety” was inspired by one of the darkest seasons of my life. There came a day where I set my eye upon the Lord and declared, “I will come out of this somehow.” Since that day, I began recording the journey of being delivered from the most significant bondage I have ever dealt with. As the Lord uncovers, deals with, and gives revelation about anxiety, I write about it. These posts are loosely edited (intentionally) in order to maintain the raw, candid feel in which they were written. I pray that these posts are a blessing to many who have suffered with the same struggle.
You will come through this. Don’t take my word for it; take His Word for it.
